Product Engineer

What you will do 
  • Create efficient new product designs while improving existing products for our Air Distribution products using sound engineering principles. 
  • Evaluate products for cost savings opportunities value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE).
How you will do it
  • Promote VA/VE workshops to generate potential cost savings ideas
  • Create parts, assemblies, and drawings in Autodesk Inventor solid modeling software as part of new product introduction projects, VA/VE, and engineering change requests
  • Use Autodesk Inventor Vault software to manage engineering CAD data
  • Use AS400 (Manufacturing Resource Planning software) to enter and configure part and assembly data. 
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering to ensure design specifications are maintained, eliminate waste, and recommend design adjustments and improvements 
  • Create and supervise status reports and charts utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams and internal software
  • Build, test, and evaluate any required prototypes for new product development, VA/VE and product improvements. 
  • Test, evaluate, and compare competitor's products, materials, designs, performance, and applications for cost savings opportunities. 
  • Lead minor projects and engineering changes notices (ECN)
  • Handle work requests and conduct QC audits with IEC (India Engineering Center)
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions, to stay apprised of new developments in technology, tools, and resources. 
  • Generate technical reports, graphs, and marketing illustrations to define/illustrate system performance and operating characteristics. 
  • Follow and align with company work and safety rules.

Qualifications - External
What we look for 
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Aerospace engineering from an accredited four-year College or University, and two to three years of hands-on Inventor or SolidWorks cad experience is required.
  • Three to five years of hands on practical work experience in HVAC is helpful.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus. 
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Stage-Gate/Phase-Gate development processes, project management, DFMA, DFMEA, ANSYS CFD/FEA, sheet metal forming and fabrication, air movement principles a plus.
  • Shown ability to calculate values such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, air flow, heat transfer, and sound power by applying concepts from algebra, geometry, statistics, trigonometry, differential equations, and physics. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, government regulations, and agency standards. 
  • Also possess the ability to write reports, business correspondence, work instructions, effectively present information, and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must show proficiency with Autodesk Inventor (preferred) or SolidWorks and MS Office products.
