Graduate Rail Systems Engineer (Available 2022)

Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but not be limited to, the following:
 
  • Working collaboratively with engineers, design professionals, project managers, and technical specialists across rail disciplines to effectively deliver multi-disciplinary engineering projects through a comprehensive and integrated Systems Engineering practice.
  • Assisting senior staff with Systems Engineering and Project Management tasks on a variety of infrastructure projects across the Americas region, including Light Rail Transit, Bus Rapid Transit, High-Speed Rail, subway, and new mobility projects.
  • Supporting the production of Systems Engineering plans and the implementation of Systems Engineering processes: e.g., requirements management, interface management, systems integration, assurance, verification and validation, engineering safety, electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC) and Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability Study (RAMS).
  • Applying a “systems view” to large infrastructure projects to apply an iterative methodology that supports interdisciplinary and inter-relational elements and their relation to the whole system.
  • Applying Systems Engineering activities utilizing International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE) best practices to establish and manage business, technical, and process requirements throughout feasibility, concept, and detailed design phases of rail projects.
  • Identifying, developing, and managing interface requirements and documentation between engineering disciplines throughout project lifecycles.
  • Appling applicable codes and standards such as agency design standards, AREMA, NEC/NFPA, EN, and related specifications and standards for design of rail and infrastructure projects.
  • Producing calculations, drawings, specifications, design reports, technical analyses, or other materials suitable as required for design deliverables at the appropriate stage of project development.
  • Carrying out work under mentorship and supervision of more senior staff.
  • Assisting in the development of system and software models.
  • Supporting the identification and preparation of bids and tenders to help create compelling solutions to clients and partners.
 
The position offers scope for professional development, especially in relation to increasing Systems Engineering and RAMS expertise within the Rail and complex systems environment. Applicants who are highly adaptable, analytical, and naturally curious will excel in this role.
 
 
Qualifications
 
  • A university engineering degree in industrial, civil, electrical, electronic or information systems or similar
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Currently pursuit of EIT/FE Certification preferred
  • Interest in pursuing INCOSE ASEP/CSEP certification preferred
  • Fluency in 3D CAD software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD software or BIM environments
  • Must not require sponsorship, now or in the future to be considered for this role
