Environmental Scientist, Joint Base Andrews, MD

We are looking to place mid- to senior- level Environmental Scientist or Engineer with environmental restoration and remediation experience. The candidate will support the Environmental Restoration Program on-site at Joint Base Andrews, MD.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Environmental professionals (Environmental Engineer, Hydrogeologist, Geologist, or Environmental Scientist) to provide: 
  • On-site base wide program and project management support for the Air Force’s Environmental Restoration Program. 
  • Possess a working knowledge of other Federal environmental statutes and State-specific regulations such as each State Environmental Protection Act and the State Administrative Code, local regulations and statutes, as well as AF and/or DoD environmental regulations and documentation. 
  • Review of contractor-generated technical documents.
  • Field oversight and escort of contractor activities.
  • Tracking of schedules, funds, and project status.
  • Attendance and participation in regulatory and project status meetings.
  • Records management of environmental program documents, support for development of briefings and point papers, and environmental project programming. 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience working as an environmental professional for at least 7 years and possess strong knowledge of the Air Force Environmental Restoration Program and remediation activities. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, sciences, or other relevant area. 
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus. 
  • Possess a working knowledge of other Federal Environmental statutes and State-specific regulations such as each State Environmental Protection Act and the State Administrative Code, local regulations and statutes, as well as AF and/or DoD environmental regulations and documentation.
  • Knowledge of CERCLA and RCRA including the skills and experience to oversee environmental field work and review reports generated by other contractors.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and proficiency with MS Office applications (Word and Excel) is required. 
  • Ability to successfully pass a federal agency background check is required. 
  • Individuals already possessing an adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) are preferred as well as prior Air Force experience. Secret clearance is a plus.
