Environmental Scientist, Edwards AFB, CA

We are looking to place a mid-level Environmental Scientist or Engineer with environmental site assessment, restoration and remediation experience. The candidate will support the Environmental Restoration Program on-site at Edwards AFB, CA.
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Environmental professionals to provide on-site base wide program and project management support for the Air Force’s Environmental Restoration Program.
  • Duties may include review of contractor-generated technical documents, tracking of ERP schedules and funds, management of ERP documents, environmental project programming, and field oversight of contractor activities. 
  • Duties may also include facilitating, attending, and preparing meeting minutes for periodic Air Force/regulatory agency meetings. 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, physical sciences, or other relevant area. 
  • Candidates shall have worked as an environmental professional for at least 5 years.
  • A working knowledge of the Air Force Environmental Restoration Program (ERP) and remediation activities is a plus. 
  • Candidates shall have a working knowledge of CERCLA and RCRA including the skills and experience to review environmental reports generated by other contractors and oversee environmental field work.
  • Shall also possess a working knowledge of other Federal and CA state-specific regulations such as USEPA Region 9, Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), and Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) regulations and statutes, as well as Air Force and/or DoD environmental regulations and documentation. 
  • Knowledge of groundwater contamination in fractured bedrock environments is a plus. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and proficiency with MS Office applications (Word and Excel) is required. Familiarity with MS PowerPoint and MS Project is a plus.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus. 
  • Ability to successfully pass a federal agency background check is required. 
  • Individuals already possessing an adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) are preferred as well as prior Air Force experience. 
  • Motivated self-starters requested.
