Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer (ME) will be responsible for the HVAC system design in standard Modular Data Centers (SmartMod™, SmartMod™ MAX, Power Module). The ME will be responsible for selecting system components, system calculation and performance, 3D modeling, bom creation, parts and system documentation. The ME will work closely with cross functional team members and provides production support during factory integration; helps assess and find solutions to problems that impact production and quality and participates and leads design reviews with customers, engineering team members and other internal work teams.  This position will also support new business inquiries and development activities.
Responsibilities:

  • Create conceptual and detailed 3D models of HVAC system components and assemblies from both 2D and 3D data. Utilizes Autodesk Inventor or Revit software for documentation.
  • Provide a detailed Schematic Design(SD), Detail Design(DD) and Construction Drawing(CD) narrative for mechanical design aspects of the solution for project and customer review and approval.
  • Thermal transfer calculations (fire ratings and thermal bridges)
  • Simple CFD analysis
  • Create part, assembly and assembly drawings from 3D files for fabrication and integration.
  • Create, maintain and review bill of materials (BOMS) with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing during production and testing.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision from lead project engineer(s) and/or manager.
  • Manages multiple ongoing projects and switch tasks when situations arise.
  • Work directly with material vendors on component sourcing and selection.
  • May oversee and advise on the design and CAD work of others as needed.
  • Participate in and lead group discussions and Web Meetings regarding projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering disciplines.
Requirements:

  • Prior working experience in product engineering or mechanical design.
  • Proficiency in working with Autodesk Inventor or equivalent CAD system
  • Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost effectiveness.
  • Self-starter. Ability to solve problems, take responsibility and deliver results with a spirit of innovation and strong commitment to excellence.
  • Fluency in English required (read, write and speak).
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office Software – such as PowerPoint, EXCEL and Word
  • Ability to read, interpret and produce technical drawings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrating ethics and integrity.
  • Understanding of manufacturing practices and processes.
  • Exhibit forward-looking sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills.
  • Strong analysis, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Team-oriented attitude.
  • Must be action-oriented with an eye for finding opportunity and solving problems.
  • Detail oriented with high attention to detail and proven ability to complete tasks on schedule.
  • Project management skills preferred.
