Lean Intern

Real World Responsibilities:
The Lean Intern will work closely with the Lean team and assist with event preparation and participates in improvement events as requested to support plant objectives. Activities shall include, but are not limited to:
  • Observation of team members in areas such as continuous flow, 5 s, standard work, just-in-time production techniques
  • Document work process information such as people and material flow, and cycle times
  • Observe and participate in Lean Workshops, with guidance and support of Lean Workshop Leader
  • Hands-on work in manufacturing environment, including time studies, improvements on shop floor, and building mock-ups of production line equipment
 
Must haves:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Quality/Continuous Improvement, or a related field with lean knowledge
  • Desire to work in hands-on environment in a manufacturing plant
  • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Ability to work for 3 months full-time in Redmond, WA
 
Nice to haves:
  • MS Excel and Powerpoint experience
  • Have a basic understanding of the stages in a product life cycle and of common project methodologies
  • Have knowledge of system skills and be able to assist with developing and driving implementation of system or process changes
