Secondary Schools Assistant Principal

POSITION: Secondary Schools Assistant Principal
POSTING PERIOD: September 21, 2021 until filled; apply by October 1, 2021 to ensure consideration
Qualifications:
1. Must hold valid Michigan teaching certification and meet state requirements for administration certification or
applicable permit
2. Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field of study
3. Demonstration of leadership capacity or experience in current or previous positions
4. Ability to communicate effectively and relate positively with students, parents, staff, and other members of the
community
5. Broad general knowledge of curriculum, positive behavior systems, MTSS, instructional best practices, assessment,
and the PLC process
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITITES:
1. Support Secondary Building Principals in efforts to ensure safe, orderly schools for all students, staff, and visitors
2. Foster and support a team approach to providing student services with students, parents, classroom teachers,
paraprofessionals, student success coordinators, special education staff, contracted staff, and administrators
3. Assist with supervision and evaluation of certified and classified personnel
4. Support administration with implementation of PBIS using policies established in MS & HS Code of Conduct, in
compliance with District policies and procedures and state and federal law
5. Guide, monitor, and work to continually improve systems of student support through MTSS including child study,
special education, at-risk referral processes, truancy, and wrap-around services with community and public agencies
6. Coordinate with Secondary Principals in implementation of Secondary programs, teams, professional development,
and building/district improvement goals
7. Serve on and/or lead committees, as designated by Principals or Superintendent
8. Keep informed of developments in educational research and participate in learning activities to increase knowledge
and improve skills pertinent to leadership and management
9. Attend and/or supervise select evening activities and events including athletic events
10. Perform other such duties as may be assigned
