RFC Engineer (Ceramic Materials Processing) Co-op

Co-op Education Summary:
Assists Manufacturing and Process Engineering Departments by performing various Engineering related tasks, such as measurements, data collection, analysis and monitoring of core Ceramic Material processes in support of the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of ferrimagnetic, ferromagnetic and dielectric based ceramic materials and products.
Under the guidance and supervision of various Staff Engineers, the Engineering Intern /Co-Op will interact with Engineering and Manufacturing personnel to conduct reviews of material requirements and compatibility of processing methods.  The Engineering Intern /Co-Op will compile and evaluate test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for a specific process or material specifications.  The Engineering Intern /Co-Op will be encouraged to conceive, plan and carry out experiments and associated activities requiring Engineering concepts to define and select methods that may involve the development of new or improved processes for solid oxide powder formulation & synthesis, powder & slurry processing, forming and pressing, ceramic sintering and post firing evaluation of ceramic material properties and associated electrical characteristics.

Depending on the specific assignment, the Engineering Intern /Co-Op must be able to work in a Manufacturing area or a Laboratory environment, attend and participate in regular Engineering or Project meetings and be prepared to present data or discuss results as necessary and provide formal status updates to assigned Supervisors or Engineering Mentors.
The Engineering Intern /Co-Op must be able to work effectively as a member of a team or carry out tasks independently. They must follow all Company policies, rules and procedures as defined by Skyworks and Trans-Tech referencing the company’s Safety, Environmental and Sustainability policies and programs.

The Engineering Intern /Co-Op must be able to work in and around the Ceramic Manufacturing environment and understand the basics of Ceramic Material processing. Also able to travel to local University campuses to perform advanced analytical testing and measurements.

Job Requirements:

·      Currently enrolled in a MS (preferred) or BA/BS program studying Ceramics Engineering, Materials Sciences and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
·      We will not consider candidates who've already graduated
·      Completed coursework and/or exposure to Solidworks, Materials Analysis or JMP
·      Ability to work independently or as a member of a team
·      Ability to work in a Ceramic Manufacturing environment and understand the basics of Ceramic Material processing
·      Ability to travel to local University campus to perform advanced analytical testing and measurements
Note that students who relocate or travel at least 50+ miles for this Co-Op will receive both round-trip relocation and a housing stipend.
