WHAT WILL YOU DO?
As a Mechanical Engineer with a focus in Mechatronics, you will design and develop robust electromechanical and controls for high performance systems in challenging environments. You will work as part of a team of creative cross-disciplinary engineers to meet project and customer’s requirements and gain exposure to a wide variety of systems from airborne remote sensing to industrial automation and everything in between. At Quartus, you will be involved in the entire project lifecycle from concept and design to build and test.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Design and develop electromechanical assemblies and sub-systems
- Design and build prototypes, create detailed drawings and instructions for production
- Work closely with program manager and customer on technical requirements.
- Work on projects independently and with a multi-disciplined team of engineers and technicians.
- Collaborates with project managers and others in the development of project plans, proposals and schedules.
- Perform risk and tolerance analysis and perform subsystem FMEA’s.
- Drive appropriate mechanical design elements by building a tolerance budget for each component.
- Responsible for technical documentation (Models, CAD drawings, Simulations, BOMs, etc.)
- Design, develop, or implement control circuits or algorithms for electromechanical systems.
- Travels to customer sites for meetings or engineering support
- Contributes to the overall success and quality of Quartus services
- Prepares PowerPoint slides for customer design reviews

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- BS in Mechanical, Robotics, and/or Mechatronics
- 0-3 years of experience in:
- Electromechanical design for precision assemblies in challenging environments
- Precision motion control
- Heat transfer and design of thermal management solutions
- GD&T application per ASME Y14.5M
- Design using CAD/CAE software (Solidworks preferred)
- Design validation using proper finite element analysis techniques
- Experience with programming (MATLAB, Python, C/C++, etc.)
- Familiarity with common electrical measurement tools such as DMMs, Oscilloscopes, and Dynamic Signal Analyzers
- Must be a US Person (U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- MS in Mechanical, Robotics, and/or Mechatronics
- Experience with electrical component specification and mechanical drawing creation
- Familiarity with implementation of sensors and data acquisition systems
- Experience with 3D Kinematics and Dynamics with applications to Robot modeling
- Experience implementing real time control systems on embedded hardware such as industrial PLCs
- Experience with Optimal Control and/or Nonlinear control
- Experience with System Identification for control system design and model development
