2022 Technical Support Representative Intern

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is looking for Technical Support Representatives interns to help in our Client Technical Services department in assisting employees and volunteers at the Church.

We have found that the ideal candidates for the TSR Intern role fit the following criteria: 
  • Major in Computer Information Technology
  • Internship can be a senior project.
  • Example Courses for BYU-I: CIT298 and CIT498.
  • General interest in technology and computer support.
NOTE: This is not a coding internship, but more of a general technology, support, and customer service introduction.

About:
This internship position represents an unusual and exciting opportunity to work for one of the largest information technology centers in the Wasatch front. This individual works with divine guidance to provide or support technology that furthers the mission of the Church and reflects the eternal impact of the gospel.

A Day in the Life:
  • Prioritize, understand, and respond to service requests/incident tickets based on the business impact; escalate ticket requests requiring greater expertise 
  • Assist with fixed asset procedures by receiving and tagging hardware and updating asset management system.
  • Image and configure equipment to design specifications 
  • Perform assigned software and device maintenance and upgrades, documenting any changes made 
  • Provide operational feedback to management, reporting any inaccuracies or incorrect data 
  • Execute assignments by following established procedures using a limited degree of creativity and latitude as necessary 
  • Interact with customers in a helpful, positive manner with customer satisfaction being the objective 
  • Perform backup/data transfers 
  • General computer troubleshooting

Work Schedule:
This is a 40 hour per week internship that is expected to last approximately 4 months. Internships will start either January or May of 2022. Normal office hours are between 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Some positions may require rotational shifts, 24/7.
This position is located in Riverton, Utah.  

Qualifications:
· You should be currently enrolled or recently graduated from an accredited college or university
· Internship is for current temple worthy members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
· Technology background is desired
Helpful Skills & Abilities:
  • Prefer applicants with technical certifications, such as A+, Network+, etc. 
  • Functional knowledge of supported hardware and software including Windows and Mac platform. 
  • Disk wiping and disk imaging technology 
  • Basic asset management practices 
  • Network technologies pertaining to system connectivity and troubleshooting 
  • Effective interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills with a strong emphasis on customer service 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality 
  • Basic understanding of IT business functions 
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, dependable, and appropriately prioritize tasks 
  • Ability to comfortably lift 30 lbs. and reach across and work under desks 
  • This job operates in a professional office environment
  • To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using computer monitors/equipment
