IT Project Manager

The Information Technology Services Office (ITSO) is currently looking to fill an ITSO Project Manager (IT Project Management-Journey) position. This position will be located in our Headquarters Building in Lacey, WA.

In this role you will independently provide project management for the implementation of the statewide One Washington project at Ecology. The project will replace the state’s system that manages key business functions – finance, procurement, budget, human resources and payroll. The project will be accomplished in multiple phases with the following focus; Phase 1a - core financial systems, Phase 1b – Expanded financial systems and procurement, Phase 2 – Human Capital Management and Phase 3 – Budget preparation. This work includes initiating, planning, controlling, monitoring, closing, and reporting on the project as this mission critical system is implemented at Ecology.

 

We are looking for applicants who possess extensive IT Project Management knowledge and experience. The top applicant will have excellent people, negotiation, and communications skills, to include business analysis, technical writing, and facilitation experience. This position develops project management and business analysis artifacts that are reviewed by senior IT, business and executive level staff. As such, the incumbent must possess strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.

Program Mission: The Information Technology Services Office (ITSO) is the central provider of strategic and tactical support for the use of Information Technology (IT) within Ecology. The mission of ITSO is to create and support useful technology services that adapt for the future and support Ecology's mission. 

Please Note: This is a project position that is funded until June 30, 2022. The Statewide One Washington project is expected to continue through June 30, 2025. The funding for this position has a high probability of being renewed through the lifecycle of the project.

Duties

Section Mission: The ITSO Enterprise Portfolio Management & Architecture Section provides expert-level consulting and leadership in the areas of enterprise portfolio and project management, business analysis and IT architectural services.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or closely related field and two (2) years professional experience in IT project management gained in the last (4) four years. Experience includes but is not limited to, business analysis, user interface design, system testing, and all facets of IT project management for IT projects to include technical writing

 OR

Associates degree in Computer Science, IT or closely related field; OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in Project Management and four (4) years of professional experience gained in the last eight (8) years as listed above

 

Six (6) years professional IT project management experience gained in the last 10 years in the requirements listed above.

*Project Management Professional (PMP) certification will substitute for two (2) years of required experience.

 

* Education in Computer Science, IT or closely related field or accredited vocational training in Project Management will substitute year for year for experience for up to five (5) of the required six (6) years of experience
