The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Highway Maintenance, Fuel Distribution, has a full time vacancy for an Electronic Technician.
SUMMARY: To perform skilled electronic technician work and supervision involving the installation, construction, maintenance, modification and repair of the Department of Transportation’s statewide fuel dispensing system. To respond appropriately to various fuel site conditions on a 24/7/365 basis as needed to minimize and/or eliminate environmental incidents, and to address emergencies and needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspects, maintains, installs, calibrates, adjusts, and tests computerized electronic fuel dispensing components located in fuel management systems, in-tank monitoring systems, and interstitial space monitoring systems to ensure proper data transmission to the host server site or terminals.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions of fuel dispensing system; makes repairs or replaces mechanical, electrical and/or electronic computerized components at the remote fuel sites to return them to service.
- Plans, assigns and supervises field work performed by Maintenance Mechanic position, including providing training, giving instructions and checking work.
- Instructs and trains site managers, operators and other personnel assigned to the site to ensure continual, efficient and safe operation of the fuel-dispensing site.
- Schedules, coordinates and/or supervises personnel and vendors during the installation and repair of remote automated motor fuel dispensing sites.
- Reviews plans or specifications for technical accuracy and provides input accordingly. Creates estimates from plans and/or specifications to determine cost, provides a list of parts and equipment for ordering. Inspects equipment and materials for fuel site, departmental, and other state agency installation work to ensure quality and timely shipments.
- Contacts and coordinates with state and local officials, utility representatives and vendors to ensure fuel site installations conform to existing codes and regulations.
- Maintains system-wide environmental compliance with EPA and NHDES rules and regulations. Schedules, completes and/or oversees required inspections.
- Maintains general knowledge of related construction methods.
- Responds immediately to perform fuel system related emergency activities as needed on a 24-hour per day basis during winter maintenance season.
- Performs skilled electrician/electronic work at Bureau of Highway Maintenance facilities on an as needed basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School diploma, G.E.D. or its equivalent, supplemented by appropriate trade school training in electricity plus a standard apprenticeship under a Master Electrician, or completion of a two-year college or technical institute course or equivalent education with major study in the field of electronics.
Experience: Five years of experience in the field of electronics, electronic security systems, electricity, radio, wire communications or similar activity, sufficient to provide a broad technical knowledge of electronics equipment.
License/Certification:
- Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license. The applicant’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency.
- Applicant must possess a Master Electrician license or obtain within the probationary period.
- Applicant must obtain Veeder Root level 3 or 4 certification within the probationary period.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge or experience in installation, maintenance and repair of fuel sites or similar systems with advanced electronic and mechanical components.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All accountabilities must be performed in accordance with State and Department rules and policies, including risk management, safety and environmental standards, regulations and administrative orders.
