Research and Development Engineers (Power Electronics)

The R&D team at WiTricity is seeking experienced power electronics engineers to work on conception, design, modeling, and implementation of next generation wireless charging systems for electric vehicles. This is a hands-on role with technical supervision by a Principal Engineer in the CTO’s organization. We have more than one position open and prefer at least one incumbent be an experienced hire.

Responsibilities may include one or more of the following:
  • Design, analysis, and development of new power converter designs for wireless charging systems (e.g., PFCs, resonant converters, etc.) at power levels from 3 to 20 kW
  • Development of architectures for monitoring and control of wireless power systems
  • Development and evaluation of novel components for wireless power systems
  • Development, evaluation, and application of power electronics packaging structures
  • Invention and evaluation of new applications of wireless power
  • Documentation of technical results for patents, training, user manuals or other materials
  • Participation in industry standardization activities as needed
  • Provide technical direction to junior team members or instruct members of the engineering team on novel technologies

Requirements:
  • Candidates are expected to have the following education and relevant experience in the design of power electronics systems as a minimum requirement:
  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with 05 years of experience OR
  • MS in Electrical Engineering with 2-5 years of experience
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering is required (Ph.D. preferred)
  • Experience in implementing digitally controlled power electronic systems is a must
  • Experience in implementing high-frequency magnetic components is a plus
  • Experience in Wide band-gap devices such as SiC and GaN is preferred
  • Strong lab skills are required
  • Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, Altium, LabView is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex problems and develop innovative solutions
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to present technical results both internally and to customers
