Construction Estimator


Job Title: Estimator
Region: Utah
Reporting To: Procurement Director
Responsible For: To prepare estimates on projects ranging up to $50 Million. 
Job Purpose: To work with the Procurement Bidding Team of estimators to prepare quantity takeoffs and solicit bids from subcontractors.
 
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Read and understand the Request For Proposal (RFP)
  2. Coordinate with the procurement department the needs for an estimate (i.e. a proposal, bid, safety plan, etc.)
  3. Potential to manage projects
  4. Review plans and specs of projects
  5. Perform quantity takeoffs and scope pricing
  6. Call subcontractors and review subcontractor bids for the complete scope of work
  7. Work with project management to complete buyout of awarded projects
  8. Establishing and maintaining relationships with the Owner, design professionals, building officials, subcontractors, and suppliers
  9. Reviewing all vendor schedules of values and preparing the general schedule of values to ensure completion of the project on time

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Must be able to work with government and non-government personnel in a professional and clear manner. Be able to work with different trades and construction focuses to ensure a safe environment without limiting the trades ability to complete work. Must be able to properly communicate over the phone and in writing to upper management to include Owners, PM’s, Superintendents, and Corporate Safety. 

Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Proficient in Bluebeam
  • Excellent plan and specification reading skills
  • Well-developed organizational skills
  • Honest, dependable, and possess good interpersonal skills
  • Must pass government security clearance standards
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen test if hired
  • Good driving record, valid license - insurable through the company
  • Able to lift to 50 pounds

Preferred
  • Experience estimating commercial/government construction projects  
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience in Bluebeam
  • Scheduling knowledge – Primavera P6 experience preferred
  • B.S. in Construction Management/Engineering
