Engineering Internship/Co-op

Springville, Utah

Care Weather mass produces satellites to 10X the global supply of weather data. That data paves the way for superintelligent weather simulations that will give prophetic disaster warnings and prescribe cures to droughts, hurricanes, and torrential rain.

Engineering Internship/Co-op

As an intern, you will be coached by your mentor and other employees as you take ownership of the hardware and software of satellite and ground systems. If you’ve demonstrated an ability to keep up in school while satisfying a passion for turning related ideas into reality, you’re a great candidate!

Examples of previous successful intern assignments include:

  • Satellite flight hardware and software, including radio antenna and star tracker baffle.
  • Key satellite ground test equipment, including our high-altitude balloon system, our reaction wheel jitter characterization system, and our balanced air bearing system.
  • Concept to production for Care Weather’s entire multi-band satellite ground station.
  • Design, development, and migration of the company’s satellite operations web app.

Program Descriptions

  • Veery full-stack spacecraft engineering team. The Veery scatterometer constellation will map global winds every hour, giving hurricane forecasters sorely needed eyes on approaching storms. Veery will be the first scatterometer built by a private company and the first American scatterometer in a decade.
  • Ground systems engineering team. Mass-producing weather satellites isn’t possible without a wide array of custom-built ground support systems, from satellite qualification systems to space dynamics simulators.
  • One PCB autonomous factory team. Rapid circuit board iteration is the key to inventing new weather satellites and other systems key to human flourishing. One PCB is Care Weather’s rapid, low-cost circuit board manufacturing service for American hobbyists and inventors.

Internship Schedules

Internships typically run for 16 full-time weeks in the summer. Other full-time seasons are available upon request. New interns and interns with return offers can work part-time during the school year before their internship.
