WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As an Interdisciplinary Scientist, you will use your knowledge and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

  • Managing research and development projects by monitoring progress, ensuring compliance, coordinating consultations, and resolving technical issues.
  • Providing scientific, technical and management direction over advanced medical
    countermeasure development programs.
  • Providing regular, effective communication on procurement and strategic objectives, plans, progress, and outcomes to inter-agency partners, contractors, and key stakeholders.

 

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Basic Qualifications: 0401 Series

  1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.


Basic Qualifications: 0601 Series:

Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education: https://www.opm.gov/leaving/index.aspx?link=http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/ at the time the degree was obtained.
 

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Minimum Qualifications:  You must have one-year of specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following:

  • Applying advanced theories, principles, and methods in at least one scientific discipline (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, microbiology, or health sciences) sufficient to lead research and development strategies at a senior level.
  • Applying project management principles, methods, or tools to plan, coordinate, and manage projects and resources, including monitoring performance and tracking contract cost, schedule, and outcomes.
  • Communicating effectively across formats and audiences, using appropriate methods to engage senior managers, team members, customers, and/or government representatives.
