Metal Factory Student Technician
We are looking to hire team members in the College of Engineering's Metal Factory. This position is for Fall 2026 through Spring 2027. We will begin evaluating candidates in July 2026.
WHO ARE WE?
A student-managed, team-run, open-access machine shop within the College of Engineering. Our lab is dedicated to making students and faculty a priority in everything by providing excellent service, doing more than is expected, inspiring ideas, and helping them come to life.
the METAL Factory - located in TECH Room 112
- Employees assist students on projects when needed, including welding, machining, and other fabrication techniques
- Employees enforce policies and safety procedures, check tools out, maintain a clean lab, and keep machines running properly
- Employees help create and run workshops
BEHAVIORS EXPECTED / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide courteous and friendly assistance to lab users
- Train to perform lab-specific duties (machining, fabrication, woodworking)
- Train students in the use of machinery and other tools
- Complete various projects, assigned by the manager, to improve the lab
- Enforce safety procedures and policies to maintain a safe learning environment for all lab users
- Help maintain the lab space through equipment cleaning and maintenance
COMPENSATION
- $12.50 starting pay
