TAs for ENGR 1010: Engineering Exploration - Mission to Mars
The College of Engineering is looking for TAs for the new freshman Engineering Foundations course ENGR 1010: Engineering Exploration - Mission to Mars.
This position is open to all Engineering Undergraduate majors, including Biological, Civil, Environmental, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, and Computer Science.
This position is an On-Campus Variable position. US Work Authorization is REQUIRED.
Job Description:
Teaching Assistants will mentor two freshman project teams as they develop solutions to problems associated with traveling to and colonizing Mars.
The position is for the Fall 2026 semester. Employment dates are August 31 - December 18. TAs will work an average of six hours per week and will be paid approximately $300/month, split between two pay periods. TAs will report to the ENGR 1010 faculty.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting students in problem-solving
- Applying math and engineering principles
- Grading assignments when requested
- Modeling appropriate classroom behavior
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Must Have Qualifications:
- Must have taken undergraduate engineering courses at the sophomore, junior, and/or senior level
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be available MWF from 12:30 to 1:20 pm to attend the class
- Working toward an undergraduate major in Engineering or Computer Science.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completed a computer programming course, i.e., CEE 1400, CS 1400, ECE 1400, or ENGR 2930 (Programming for Engineers pilot course), or equivalent.
- TAs with strong programming skills may have the opportunity to TA during the spring semester (2027) for the second Engineering Foundations course, ENGR 1400: Programming for Engineers.
