Process Engineer Intern

Position Overview:  

We have an excellent opportunity for a Process Engineer Intern at our Roanoke Cement Plant in Troutville, VA.  This position will report directly to the Cement Production Manager. The Internship will consist of the following: 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

Complete safety training based on MSHA requirements for cement plant. 

Monitor methods and equipment with a view on improving performance and efficiency.  

Assist in developing and implementing departmental plans.  

Assist in identifying courses of action to improve safety, operational efficiencies, control production costs and protect the environment.  

Assist with reporting, planning, and audits.  

Clearly articulate ideas or issues to management.  

 

Required Skills:  

Education & Experience 

Graduate or student actively pursuing a degree in Chemical, Material Sciences or Process Engineering. 

Ability to be a self-starter, be self-directed, and take initiative to move forward with ideas; must be able to work with and influence others. 

Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) with professional decorum. 

Strong attention to detail with analytical and judgment capabilities to anticipate issues and provide solutions. 

Ability to work effectively and independently in a team environment. 

Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) 

Must have basic project management skills. 

Prior internship or Co-op experience in heavy industry beneficial. 

Positive attitude to achieve goals and deliver results. 

Availability to commit to a minimum of 35 hours per week.
