Student Peer Mentor / Assistant Office Staff

The FJ Management Center for Student Success is seeking highly motivated and friendly students to assist in our main office as well as the START (student tips, answers, resources, & training) Desk on the 2nd floor between EBB and Huntsman Hall. Students will be expected to assist with quick questions, document reviews, general advising, and other tasks as assigned while maintaining confidentiality. This is a part-time position that will work with a student’s class schedule. Students will be representing the Huntsman School as the first point of contact for students as well as visitors.

Employee Responsibilities:

  • Represent the Huntsman School & The FJ Management Center for Student Success in a professional manner.
  • Answer non-FERPA related advising and basic career-related questions.
  • Help edit and prepare professional documents – resumes, cover letters, reference sheets, personal statements (training will be provided).
  • Greet students and visitors and help them locate classrooms, offices, and tour groups.
  • Expected to work all scheduled/assigned hours.
  • Answer and redirect multi-line telephone calls.
  • Correspond with students via email.
  • Assist with in-office projects and events.
  • Assist in communication between various offices.
  • Instruct students on how to access, update, and complete profile on Aggie Handshake.
  • Help students set up appointments with academic advisors and career specialists.
  • Assist with events and workshops, including Focus Friday, Huntsman Career Expo, Mock Interview Day, etc.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and trainings throughout the academic year; Including completing training materials over the semester break (can be done virtually).
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to commit to Fall and Spring semester

Qualifications:

Skills Needed:

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills – written, oral, and listening
  • Understanding of confidentiality
  • Prompt and efficient in all aspects of the job
  • Basic knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Other Qualification

  • Current student in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business

US Work Authorization is REQUIRED
