DVMF Stage Management Intern

Utah Symphony | Utah Opera’s (USUO) Stage Management Intern will be responsible for assisting with concert operations at the Deer Valley® Music Festival (DVMF) series in Salt Lake City and Park City. The individual will have the opportunity to work with a world-renowned orchestra and artists from classical, pops, country, and Broadway music. College students with an interest in Stage or Production Management and Orchestra Operations are encouraged to apply. This is a great opportunity to get an in-depth, behind the scenes look at what it takes to run a summer music festival with an orchestra.

The internship is slated for July 13th through August 18th involving evening events and include onsite event duties with a varied schedule primarily on Friday and Saturdays. Schedule negotiable.  With an expectation of 29 hours a week for 6 weeks, this internship will pay an expected minimum gross total of $1,914 (actual total would depend on total hours worked).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Assist the Director of Production and Stage Manager with setting the stage for Utah Symphony rehearsals and performances including loading/unloading Symphony truck when necessary at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City, UT and Snow Park Lodge in Park City, UT
  • Assisting in concert stage management at DVMF
  • Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday night concert duty in Park City, UT (Concerts at Snow Park Lodge).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Interest in stage management, production, or live performance.
  • Being a team player and contributing to a positive and respectful team environment.
  • Previous involvement in theatre, dance, music, or live events preferred.
  • Familiarity with backstage environments or rehearsal processes is an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to take direction and support the stage management team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferred candidate will be at least 21 years of age.
  • Prolonged periods of physical labor.
  • Able to move heavy equipment (sometimes weighing up to 50 pounds) alone or with team.
  • Prolonged periods of working outdoors on inclined and uneven terrain during summer months.
