Cloud Network Engineering Intern

EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Cloud Network Engineering Intern. This position will be located at our office in Littleton, CO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of cloud networking components such as virtual networks, subnets, routing, virtual gateways, and firewalls across public cloud platforms
  • Help support and enhance connectivity between on-prem infrastructure and cloud environments using VPNs and private connectivity solutions (e.g., Direct Connect or equivalents)
  • Gain hands-on experience using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) to deploy and manage cloud network resources consistently and repeatedly
  • Assist in evaluating and using open-source AI/ML tools for network visibility, anomaly detection, capacity insights, or configuration analysis (e.g., Python-based ML libraries, open-source observability platforms)
  • Work with cloud-native load balancing, DNS, NAT, and traffic management services to support modern application architectures
  • Help document “as-is” and “to-be” cloud network architectures, including insights derived from automation and AI-assisted analysisEducation and Experience:
  • GPA 3.3 or above
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, in a related field of study
  • Must have 60 credit hours completed by May 2026

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of the OSI model, TCP/IP, IP addressing, routing concepts, and BGP protocol fundamentals
  • Exposure to at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) through coursework, labs, or personal projects
  • Basic experience with Python or similar languages used for automation and data analysis
  • Familiarity with open-source AI/ML frameworks or tools (e.g., Python ML libraries, open-source observability or analytics platforms) is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to analyze complex systems and apply data-driven thinking to troubleshoot and optimize network behavior
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, learning directly from experienced network engineers
