DIRECT Lab Undergraduate Research Assistant
The Electrical and Computer Engineering department is looking for several undergraduate students who can help Dr. Mario Harper in the DIRECT Lab.

The Decision Intelligence, Robotics, Embedded and Connected Technologies (DIRECT) Lab at Utah State University integrates artificial intelligence, robotics, and energy systems to advance the next generation of intelligent infrastructure. Our research spans autonomous systems, reinforcement learning, multi-robot coordination, digital twin simulation, and grid-interactive electric mobility. The lab develops algorithms and platforms that operate across land, air, and space—ranging from legged robots and unmanned aerial systems to large-scale electric vehicle and charger networks. Working at the intersection of AI engineering and real-world deployment, DIRECT collaborates closely with industry, government, and national labs to translate cutting-edge research into resilient, data-driven solutions for mobility, energy, and defense applications. We are looking for new talents in several areas:
- Backend Developer/Engineer
- FPGA, Neuromorphic, and Embedded Developer/Engineer
- AI Engineer
The hourly rate begins at $15.00.
