JOB TITLE: Intern – Conventional Generation Development & Construction

DEPARTMENT: Development – Viola Energy Center / Wichita, KS

LOCATION: Conway Springs, KSWichita, KS

PAY RANGE: $23.00 - $28.00

 

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)

Intern Description:

Under the guidance of the Development Project Managers and Engineers, the Development Intern will play a hands-on role in supporting the Viola Energy Center Project, a state-of-the-art conventional natural gas-fired generation facility scheduled to begin construction in early 2026.

 

This internship is heavily focused on construction and field activities, offering direct exposure to the engineering and execution phases of a large-scale energy project. The intern will assist with engineering coordination, construction oversight, and field verification, contributing to the successful delivery of a major capital investment.

 

Job tasks include but not limited to:

  • Participate in on-site construction activities, including contractor coordination and field inspections
  • Support engineering reviews and ensure design compliance during construction
  • Assist with project toll-gate evaluations, including constructability assessments and milestone reviews
  • Document field progress and help resolve construction-related issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, and construction management

 

Education and Experience Requirements:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university or technical program in an ABET accredited engineering program. Strong interest in field work and construction execution.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
⦁ Must be dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented and have excellent organizational and proofreading skills.  
⦁ Must possess the ability to work and communicate effectively with other company and vendor personnel. 
⦁ Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software preferred.  
⦁ Must be able to handle multiple priorities and operate efficiently and effectively in high stress environment.

Working Conditions:
Normal construction and office working conditions, Requires extensive on-site plant work with some office work, etc.
