MIT Beaver Works - Fall Computational Problem Solving Teaching Assistant
MIT Beaver Works is seeking fall interns to contribute to the Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI) Computational Problem-Solving course. BWSI is a world class educational outreach program that challenges high school students across the country to develop robust solutions through Computational Problem Solving. For more information on BWSI program visit: https://bwsi.mit.edu/. TAs will spend eight weeks co-instructing the courses and moderating a course chat room.
Tasks include the following:
- Co-instruction of college-level course material to top high school students from the U.S.
- Emphasize good habits for clean code development
- Expose the students to the applications of math, programming, and machine learning
Position Requirements:
- Current undergraduate/graduate students in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or other technical field, coupled with the demonstrated ability to apply talents to new fields
- Demonstrated excellence in communication skills and the ability to convey technical concepts in a concise manner to a wide spectrum of audiences
- Interest in programming, course development, and educational instruction
- The course runs October 11 to December 6 2025, Saturdays 11am-1pm EST virtually
- Course assistants are expected to be available October 6 through December 6 excluding the weekend of Thanksgiving, with a commitment level of 7.5 hours/week
Desired Skills:
- Experience programming in Python
- Experience with research and/or applications of programming
- Experience with educational instruction (e.g. teaching, tutoring, etc.)
