Job Summary


We’re seeking for a skilled and motivated Commissioning Engineer to play a key role in ensuring our membrane filtration systems deliver exceptional performance. In this position, you’ll work directly with customers and collaborate across all levels of the organization, making a real impact on our service quality and customer satisfaction.
As a vital part of our team, you’ll be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of our equipment. This includes executing preventive and corrective maintenance, coordinating short-term planning, and troubleshooting control systems. You’ll serve as the primary point of contact on-site, ensuring smooth operations and outstanding support during commissioning activities.

The position is based in Champlin, MN.
You will be travelling 50% of your time to our customer sites within the Americas Region.
Tetra Pak is not sponsoring work visas or relocation for this position.
You must be work authorized in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to F-1 (student) visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.

What you will do


As Commissioning Engineer you will: 
 

  • Support the preparation of customer sites for installation and commissioning of processing equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to prepare materials for plant start-up, handover, and commissioning activities.
  • Independently or collaboratively start up membrane filtration equipment to ensure smooth operation and performance.
  • Conduct commissioning and troubleshooting at customer sites, and provide detailed commissioning reports and feedback to sales, project, and development teams.
  • Take part in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and I/O testing, often alongside customers at the workshop.
  • Train customer operators in the operation and oversight of cheese processing equipment.
  • Provide occasional support to internal teams, including assisting with sales efforts, addressing customer claims, contributing to product improvements and development, and participating in on-site audits.
  • Ensure all equipment operates to specification and capacity, making mechanical adjustments as needed to enhance performance and meet customer expectations.
  • Perform all duties in strict alignment with Tetra Pak and customer safety standards, ensuring compliance with product quality and food safety requirements.

We believe you have

 

  • Fluent English proficiency is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Technology, Automation, Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of experience in the dairy or food industry, with a focus on equipment installation, maintenance, and/or commissioning.
  • Solid understanding of PLC programming, ideally with experience on Siemens or Allen Bradley platforms.
  • Experience with FactoryTalk View SE HMI development is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Virtual Machines and VMware is a plus.
  • Strong background in electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is highly desirable.
     

o    Prior experience in the food industry with a working knowledge of fluid dynamics and heat transfer is a plus.
o    Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
o    A collaborative team player with a strong ability to work across departments and functions.
o    Willingness to travel up to 50% to customer sites across the U.S. and Canada for equipment start-up and commissioning.
