Mechanical Design Intern
The Mechanical Design Intern will support the Engineering and Sales teams by designing, prototyping, and building a mechanical demonstration structure with pumped water that illustrates the performance differences between US Valve products and commodity valves. This structure will be used for customer visits and trade shows. Additionally, the intern will design and specify a flow loop for internal flow and cycle testing of check valves. The role offers hands-on experience in mechanical design, prototyping, and testing, while collaborating with cross-functional teams including Procurement, Operations, Regulatory, and Sales. Upon completion, the intern will present their project outcomes to the Senior Leadership Team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and build a mechanical demonstration structure for valve performance comparison.
- Develop and specify a flow loop for internal valve testing.
- Create CAD models and engineering drawings for prototype components.
- Select appropriate materials and components for mechanical builds.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure manufacturability and safety of designs.
- Assemble and test prototypes; document performance results.
- Support trade show and customer engagement efforts through technical demonstration.
- Participate in design reviews and provide engineering documentation.
- Assist in root cause analysis and validation testing as needed.

- Current college student, with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above, who is enrolled and in good standing at a Maryland higher education institution.
- Sophomore standing by start of internship at minimum, majoring or minoring in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines.
- Solidworks experience preferred

- High School diploma or equivalent.
