This is an On-Campus ACA Variable Hours Position

US Work Authorization is required.

The Utah State University National Aquatic Monitoring Center (NAMC) is hiring part-time lab technicians to sort samples of aquatic macroinvertebrates and occasionally participate in various other NAMC lab and field projects. The NAMC conducts research to enhance the effectiveness of federal, tribal, and state aquatic monitoring programs. Lab techs will be trained to sort field samples and place aquatic macroinvertebrates into coarse taxonomic groups. We are seeking individuals who can work 15-20 hours a week during the school term and up to 40 hours a week during the summer. Applicants must be able to use a microscope for 2-5 hours a day, be detail-oriented, and be able to efficiently manage their time. Work schedules are flexible once training is completed. Training usually takes about a week. We encourage applications from students interested in professional careers in freshwater biodiversity, ecology, and management, but such interests or being a student are not requirements. Preference will be given to applicants who can occasionally assist in both field sampling and other project-related lab work. Field work typically involves 1-7 days in the field away from Cache Valley. In these cases, lodging and meal expenses are provided. Please note in your application if you have any constraints that would prevent you from participating in field work.

This is not a seasonal position, and we will not consider applications from individuals who cannot work at least a year. Please attach all application materials, including an up-to-date resume and three professional references, in PDF format.

Applicants should email Andrew Caudillo (andrew.caudillo@usu.edu) with inquiries about the position.
