Microbiologist Technician
The Microbiologist Technician is responsible for conducting routine microbiology tests, recording results, performing maintenance tasks, and assisting the Lead Microbiologist in maintaining the microbiology lab and conducting microbiological analyses under professional supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine microbiology tests on raw materials, finished goods, environmental monitoring samples, retests/OOS samples, and other project samples, all while maintaining a contamination-free environment
- Prepare testing samples, paperwork, and equipment/tools accurately, including maintaining and preparing testing media and sterilizing equipment
- Review results and record data in both paperwork and electronic systems (e.g., LIMS) following established procedures and protocols
- Monitor and manage inventory of testing supplies, ensuring adequate stock and timely ordering under professional supervision
- Support cross-functional teams by undertaking temporary assignments as assigned by quality management.
- Participate in GMP and safety training sessions for continuous improvement and compliance
- Maintain strict adherence to safety regulations in all microbiology laboratory activities, proactively preventing accidents, and promoting a culture of safety
Required Education and Experiences
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Associate degree or relevant education (current Junior) and experience in microbiology, biology, or a related scientific field
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Familiarity with General Laboratory Practices
- Basic understanding of cGMP and good documentation practices
- Sound understanding of math and related science
- Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices including the proper wearing of clean protective clothing, following personal hygiene standards, and adherence to food/drink/tobacco restrictions
Environment and/or Physical Factors:
- Constant plant field visits or work in the production area that may require the use of protective clothing & personal devices: safety shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, earplugs, mask, goggles, insulated gloves, safety vest, harness, hair net, slicker suit, self-contained breathing apparatus
- Frequent standing, walking, and office work
- Seldom squatting, bending, and temperature changes (range from 70 to ambient)
- Rare lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and climbing
- Never operates mobile equipment
Shift
- Thursday to Saturday, 7 hours each day (6:30 AM to 2:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break), totaling 21 hours.
- Flexibility and potential adjustments to the schedule may be required to accommodate business needs
$23.00 - $28.50 an hour
The actual wage paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to education, specific skills, licenses and certifications, experience, and training.
