Undergraduate Teaching Assistant

Job Responsibilities: 

Attending weekly TA meetings, including orientation TA meeting before the term begins.

Supervising lab check-in and student orientation, for assigned sections.

Preparing for the weekly lab experiment to fully understand and be able to explain content including instrumentation.

Supervising assigned weekly laboratory sections, arriving 10 minutes prior to lab start.

Monitoring students for lab performance and safety, ensure all safety regulations are met during the lab including the wearing of PPE and proper waste disposal.

Grading of lab reports according to assigned criteria in a timely manner.

Maintaining lab cleanliness and order.

Supervising lab check-out.

Preferences for qualifications: 

 Completion of first year chemistry, CHEM 1215 and CHEM 1225 or equivalent, with a B+ or better.

Solid understanding of laboratory safety principles.

Solid understanding of chemistry principles and techniques.

Experience in chemistry laboratories.

Familiar with MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Excellent organizational skills.

Motivated and diligent.

Ability to troubleshoot and fix lab problems.
